Loose are proud to bring you the first major exhibition of painted works by Brighton based
painter Laurie Vincent. The show will take place from the 10th until 15th August 2017 and will be
hosted at Hoxton Arches Gallery in London. Vincent, more formally known for his band Slaves, has
produced this body of work over the past year and a half and this will be the first time the
majority of the paintings have been seen in public.
Vincent’s work looks at social, global and personal events currently unfolding around him.
Sometimes humorous, his hyper colourful paintings reflect the noise and intensity of information
inflicted on people every day in the social media age. The mundane and ordinary are the primary
focus for Vincent’s imagery, employed as tools to explore how we have mastered avoiding,
distracting and ignoring reality. He intends his images to evoke pleasure and satisfaction on the
surface while also asking his viewers “are you satisfied?”.
Loose is an art project founded by Joe Goicoechea, Charlie Warcup and Sam Hamer in June 2016.
This will be the second exhibition Loose have curated, coming off the back of their incredibly
successful first show at Doomed Gallery which featured legendary skateboarder/photographer Ed
Templeton and London based painter Hetty Douglas amongst others.
A private view of the work will be held on the Thursday 10th August from 6 - 9 pm. The show will
then continue to run every day until Tuesday 15th August.
All works on display will be for sale. Please enquire at [email protected] for buying info.
